A young prostitute dies in Virginia due to syphilis. The master turns her into a vampire - into Darla.

Galway - Ireland. Darla meets the 26 years old Liam. She waits for him in a valley and let him drink her blood. Liam dies and becomes Angelus. He takes revenge on his whole family, especially on his father, and kills most of the people in Galway.

Darla wants Angelus to kill a baby and he flees to America. The family splits: Darla goes back to the master, Spike and Dru go to Prague. Dru becomes ill and very wesak. Spike promises her to find a cure.

In the New York subway Spike kills his second slayer. He takes her black leather coat as a trophy and wears it now permanently.

Angel meets Whistler, a demon that shows him the new slayer. She's just 15 years old and Angel falls in love with her in an instant. He wants to help her fight against the vampires.
